Urban Feet always welcome new runners! Please read this About page to get a sense of what we're like.
We're a social group of runners that meets regularly. Our members include both budding joggers and seasoned marathoners, but everyone is here to RUN, not walk. The group is most enjoyable when you can find someone who runs at your pace, and our runners average from 7:00 to 10:00 minutes per mile. Runs are not competitive and there's no pressure to attend every meetup.
We usually host 2 runs every week, all year round:
Weeknight run: Tuesday or Wednesday night at 7 pm
~4 miles (example: twice around the Reservoir/Bridal Path)
Weekend morning run: Saturday morning at 10 am (earlier in the summer)
~5-6 miles or more (example: one big loop around the park)
Runs work like this:
If you need a place to drop off stuff/change clothes, our organizers graciously allow runners to use their homes (in the Upper West Side) as a locker room. Contact the appropriate person for his/her address. Arrive early to change/drop off bags, head over to the run, then return to pick up your things (sorry, shower/sauna/towel service unavailable ) .
We meet in the park until everyone arrives, but we take off after a 5 minute grace period, so please arrive on time. We decide/announce the route in the park, but if you're unfamiliar with the park or get lost, know that we always finish at the starting point. We often head out for beers at Keeley's (weeknight run) or coffee/brunch (weekend run) afterward.
*Runs WILL be held as scheduled unless they are canceled on the website (due to inclement weather, etc), so please check the event page before contacting organizers. For more questions about Urban Feet, please contact Alice Xie at firstname.lastname@example.org
