There are as many ways to invest as there are schemes people can dream up. In the past few years people have realized that all the faith banks put in complicated quantitative financial engineering and risk modeling has ended in a cumulative loss greater than any profits made in the entire history of banking, ever; over 1 trillion dollars.

Their are some investors that have flourished during the recession while many super star quantitative hedge funds went bust and shut their doors. Many of the investors that prospered from the opportunities of the recession did so because they were following the tenants laid out in Security Analysis and other foundational texts of value investing. Those investors learned to closely scrutinize their investment choices, and place their money in companies they understood.

In this group I hope we can dig down into the texts of and techniques of value investing while also discussing possible investment opportunities.
