Virtual Reality at Emily Carr

We're having another VR Night at Emily Carr with Thalmic Labs demonstrating their Myo arm band.

Some awesome new tech advances for Siggraph that you'll get to see.  Mocap suit performance piece, and some great works.  I believe we'll have some serious coverage too, with people visiting town from LAVR and SVVR.

Please give me heads up about what you're showing in the comments below!

Lots of great virtual reality gear, software, and great ideas.

Check out the videos from previous events:

Is there a fee for entry?

    August 16, 2014

    • Aaron H.

Nope, though a $5 donation to myself for bringing the drinks and printing badges would be greatly appreciated. I basically donate to the group, and hope to break even through donations. People were super generous last time so I recouped a bit of what I overspent on the prior meetup. Thanks everyone!

If you just want to go check out what other people have created but don't have anything to share yourself are you still welcome to go to the meet up?

Just boosted the RSVP count to 80 people. We've got a good bit of room available to us at Emily Carr.

Also at SIGGRAPH they are giving away free cardboard kits to make your own VR glasses with your cellphone. (Google cardboard).

If you're checking out the exhibits at SIGGRAPH, check out the Perception Neuron booth. They have sensor kits that you can use to construct a reasonably good VR glove. At a reasonable price. They also have a Kickstarter campaign.
