For the January 2012 meetup we are very excited to have Dave Shea (mezzoblue.com, csszengarden.com and author of The Zen of CSS Design) speaking about drawing with HTML5 Canvas.
Dave will give us an overview of the canvas element and show some demos and the code behind.

Lightning Talks
Lightning talks are brief 5 - 15 minute talks with or without slides. Contact us if you'd like to give a talk at the next event - we're always looking for people to share interesting topics with the group.
Faruk Ateş does creative things on the Web, like Modernizr: an Open Source library that helps you take advantage of cutting-edge features in HTML5 and CSS3 today. Prior to going independent and working to make building great websites easier and faster, Faruk was the Product Designer at Apture, now acquired by Google, and did a three year stint as a UI Engineer at Apple, where he helped bring modern web development techniques to the Online Store and MobileMe.
Stephanie Hobson is a front-end developer at BCIT who works on templates for their various CMSs. She successfully advocated to have the most recent version of their site built in HTML5 and is looking forward to making the design responsive. Their team is experimenting with geolocation for use in a mobile site for their upcoming open house.
John Boxall is the CTO of Mobify. He works extensively with client side web technologies, developing techniques to prioritize content and manage resource loading on mobile browsers.

Hi Henry,
There is a parking lot under the building (Impark) and there is also metered parking on Beatty St and surrounding streets.
The SkyTrain is super screwed right now. Please don't give my spot away!
Looks like I made the list in the nick of time! Due to the change of plans I am running a few minutes late, though... Here's hoping someone will be near the doors to let us tardy folk in.

Hi Everyone,
I've opened up some spots as my initial estimates were a bit conservative.
IMPORTANT: The meetup will be held on the SECOND FLOOR of the building. The stairs to the floor are on your left as you enter the front door. Someone will be there to guide you to the room.
** REMINDER: If you or your guests can't make the meetup, please change your RSVP so someone else can come.
Thanks and I look forward to seeing everyone Thurs. night!
Dave.
