Strategic Career Positioning with Hadoop and Big Data

Details
There's a lot of buzz over Big Data these days. If I Google anything with the term "Big Data" in it, most of the articles that come back have been written in the past few months. So clearly, it's getting a lot of attention and it seems that Big Data (and especially "Big Analytics") could be the next big wave where every company is looking to get in on some kind of data analysis. This is an obvious benefit for those in this industry.
But there's so much to know. Hadoop: HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Mahout etc. etc. And that's just on the Apache side. People are using relational databases like Terradata, and then stacking BI tools like Tableau and QlikView on top of all that. Bring in R for statistical modelling. Even Microsoft is getting in on the action with HDInsight. The sheer number of tools to learn and knowledge to have is staggering.
It would be great to have a meetup where people already established in the BI/Big Data/Analytics industry can provide some guidance to those up-and-coming BI Professionals to help understand what the trends are in the industry, what people should know, and how to ride the next big wave that is Big Data.
