Audio Workshop

  • Nov 18, 2012 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

A truly immersive game experience is always achieved through what you see … and what you hear. This workshop for game developers aims to expose the true potential of audio, as well as the role it can ultimately play for the end-user.

We're bringing together a panel of audio experts to help make your games sound great.  Our panelists will analyze 6 projects, brainstorm possibilities, and make suggestions to improve the overall game experience through the creative use of audio.

Submit your game to be discussed by the panel or come to see them talk about others' work.  Either way, the focus of the day is pulling in your audience by their ears.

Hosted by: Full Indie / Vancouver Film School
Panelists: Kevin Regamey, Matthew Marteinsson, Jenn Lewis, Yanni Fyssas, Alex Vostrov

Directions: The event is at VFS, 1380 Burrard St. (Corner of Burrard and Pacific St.)

  1. There is a labelled buzzer
  2. Security will let you in
  3. Ride the elevator to the third floor
  4. A guard will point you towards the theatre

The panel made the event. So many great insights, all coming from unique perspectives. I walked out with at least half a dozen new tools. Really great stuff.

The workshop helped me develop a new thinking process when it comes to planning game audio. It also made me realized how much I didn't know or think about.

I really appreciated talking about Indie game development from an Audio Design point of view

Excellent! Thank you all so much for hosting this event! As one of those designers who lacked a strong grasp on the ways audio can work with all the elements of the overall game design, this was a truly insightful meet-up.

Very informative, panel was open to questions from developers or the audience and provided in-depth answers as best they could.

It pains me that an audio prophet named Fat Jesus just dropped. I definitely want all sizes of audio Jesus's there to collaborate with!

Don't worry, Mark, I am always with you, chubbily. Also, I attend VFS so I'll be working on my own projects when everyone is released ready for beers.

Just a thought, but I think there might be a lot of audio people on the list (myself included) which isn't really what this event is for. I'm going to back out of the event to allow more developers to get through and recommend other audio people who are *not* on the panel this time 'round do the same and we should all go grab a beer afterwards with any developers who want to discuss their games further and pursue collaborations.

Hell we should just have a second meet-up for all the people on the waiting list!
