R from Python vs Python's native numpy/Pandas/scipy
Details
On Tuesday April 24th, Kamil Kisiel (https://twitter.com/kisielk) and I are co-hosting a joint meetup of the Vancouver R Users Group (https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-R-Users-Group-data-analysis-statistics) and VanPyz (https://www.meetup.com/vanpyz/).
We'll examine using R and its vast ecosystem of libraries from Python via the rpy2 (http://rpy.sourceforge.net/rpy2/doc-2.2/html/overview.html) bridge vs using native Python/C libraries such as Numpy (http://numpy.scipy.org/) / SciPy (http://docs.scipy.org/doc/scipy/reference/), Pandas (http://pandas.pydata.org/), and Matplotlib (http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/).
As an added bonus, our demos will be in the popular IPython Notebook (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HaS4NXxL5Qc) format.
Hope to see you there!
Tavis
