I would categorise myself as 'Join a startup' and partially 'have a startup idea'. Can't really describe what ideas as they are not really concrete, but would be interesting to talk to people working with: - Wine - Media & Mobile (video/photo/sharing) - Telephony systems/apps (VOIP/sms/etc)
More tech, had started coded at 14 for my school and hooked since for over 15 years.
Over my time with Tech I've gained a Computer Science Degrees at Southampton, UK specialising in Distributed Systems and Networks in 2003. After graduating joined a financial servicing company as a developer growing with the company from 20 to almost 200 before leaving as a Tech department manager. Time after that I have been involved in London Tech scene for over 5 years as a co-founder, tech lead or just developer. Started up two companies, most recently was GoFreeRange where we worked with O2, MUBI, Chromaroma, BuildConf. Freelancing I had the privilege to rebuild TwitterFeed from the ground up and working as a CTO for JGP, one of the largest Rails app in London. I've helped run events in London, warblecamp (a twitter barcamp & hack style weekend), Ruby Manor 2 (disruptive conference for ruby devs) and keen attendee & talker at local community groups (LRUG & Devnest).
I mentioned above but it would be anyone working on these topics: - Wine - Media - Telephony systems It would also be fun, open learning people that are following these topics and technologies: - agile (small a) - collaboration and it's power to push things forward, have people challenge one another in polite nice way (pair developing for example) - lean business model (to me it being people looking to validate features on deployment rather than feature roll out) - Ruby (not rails, those passionate about ruby as a language and other frameworks that can be used) - Design and being just creative, those that have fun with hardware tech - Hack things in a day (those who have an idea so built it just for fun and learning something new)
Kalvir - Join the HackerNest Vancouver Tech Socials (formerly IMAGINEERISM) and become a part of Canada's largest tech meetup community. This is a casual, social group for technologists (and often entrepreneur-types) to come together, mingle, and perhaps find a partner in crime or two. Our goal is to unite Canada's brilliant-but-disparate tech community; we accomplish this by cramming very smart people into a room and providing free beer*.
