BuddyCamp Vancouver 2012!

Are you already using BuddyPress or do you want to learn more about this "social network in a box" plugin for WordPress? Are you a developer or designer wanting to offer your clients the next level of social interaction on their website? Are you just curious what this BuddyPress is all about?!

You won't want to miss the first-of-its-kind BuddyCamp Vancouver being held at the BCIT Burnaby Campus on Oct. 14th and 15th, 2012.

Oct. 14th will feature presentations from some excellent speakers including from BuddyPress lead John James Jacoby and core contributor Boone Gorges! Speakers and attendees are coming from across the world to be here, you won't want to miss this opportunity if you're already here locally!

The morning will feature keynotes and the afternoon will have both a developer and a beginners track. There will also be a number of speakers in government, education and business that will share lessons learned with their BuddyPress installs.

One of the speakers, St├ęphane Boisvert, will be doing a session entitled "Politics 2.0 using BuddyPress" with an overview of some of the BuddyPress tools they have built on the Liberal Party of Canada site, liberal.ca and how they are using the community tools to engage Canadians and help usher in a new era of participatory politics.

Another speaker, Michael Cyger, Founder and Publisher of isixsigma.com, a site and community focused on lean six sigma read by 70% of Fortune 500 companies, will share how they migrated from Joomla to BuddyPress as well as the community-building tactics that doubled traffic in six months.

Daniel Okeefe of the Institute of Play in New York City will present how they used BuddyPress to launch their QLINK social platform at Quest to Learn school after two previous unsuccessful attempts using IRemix and ELGG. He will share about the end-user experience of setting up and rolling out Buddypress in a NYC public school and some of the challenges and tips for overcoming the difficult parts.

There will also be sessions from local educators using BuddyPress in some B.C. school districts and even provincially to create communities of teachers and better learning opportunties for students.

Oct. 15th will be a Hack Day with both opportunities for developers and non-developers to participate. Developers will learn how they can contribute to the BuddyPress project, the tools and processes, and will be working on various BuddyPress tickets. The non-developer track will focus on BuddyPress documentation or a beginners guide to BuddyPress so there will be something for everyone (note: Hack Day is limited to 100 people).

Interested in helping out by being a sponsor for this not-for-profit, WordPress Foundation supported event? Please see our sponsors page. We anticipate between 200 and 300 attendees and the event will also be live streamed. It's a really unique sponsorship opportunity and your support will be a big help to the BuddyPress community.

And of course, don't forget WordCamp Vancouver taking place on Oct. 13th, also at BCIT Burnaby campus the day before BuddyCamp! It will include a user and developer track. http://2012.vancouver...

By also participating in BuddyCamp, you can have three days of WordPress/BuddyPress awesomeness!

Finally, if you do work within the education sector, you may may be interested in this year's Open Education Conference that will be taking place in Vancouver from Oct. 16th to 18th... another great event you may want to check out and perhaps combine with WordCamp and BuddyCamp:

Tickets for BuddyCamp will be going on sale soon and we're anticipating them selling fast so you wont want to delay. You can follow BuddyCamp on Twitter at @buddycampyvr for the latest updates.

We look forward to seeing many of you at BuddyCamp Vancouver!
