The next Net Tuesday is being organized by Elijah van der Giessen of the David Suzuki Foundation! Eli is rocking a whole new breed of Net Tuesdays - Imagine a mini social media camp where you can learn about & discuss the social media and tech tools that can rock your nonprofit/org/project!

Topics:

  • How can my organization use Facebook to be more awesome? Should I use Pages or Groups?
  • How can I use Twitter to find new supporters?
  • How can I use Ning to build a community?
  • How can I use free tools to power my online petitions?

Interested in leading a breakout session? Ping Eli!

Event=Free!

Huge thanks go to our sponsors: Workspace, Communicopia, and Social Signal.

    •  Enjoyed the presentations. Especially the one by Kris on Listening to the Internet. It was an extremely interesting topic. Could have used a little more time with each topic though, but I also understand time constraints too.
    •  Terrific introduction to topics, left me wanting to know much more
    •  Excellent presenters and very willing to share information. A little tough to gather around Macs to get full appreciation. Is there a way screens could be shared via WLAN connectivity or projected on wall. Might be good to have a little more structure in the presentation. Not too rigid, but enough to provide direction and focus for audience
    •  I enjoyed the interractivity with each presentation, however at times it was hard to hear. In some cases the presenter could have a bit more structure in what they were presenting on. The best presentations were the one on listening to what is said about your company through social media and the Facebook presentation. I would suggest as a post-event follow-up to send an email with some of the links to website referenced in the talks.
    •  It was my first one. I love how it was driven by pure shared interest. Brilliant to connect non-profits with tech-types. I'm with a non-profit, in marketing and communications, and we are trying to understand the strategic potential of driving social change with the new tools available to us. Got some great tips that will immediately make a difference! Thanks to all.
    •  I thought every body was very friendly and I came away with some great information and things to think about....the only negative was the acoustics of the room. At times I couldn't really hear people that well or see what they were trying to show on their lap tops.
    •  Thought it was done really well. Eli was a fun host.
    •  Breaking up into smaller groups was a good format. Presenters were conversational and sharing. Good job.
    •  Overall it was good. The discussions were great and really open but some lacked a summary. It would have been really useful to close each topic's discussion with a verbal list of say "our 5 top tips for non-profits" as a take home piece. Because it was so popular and the space so light, it was not possible for everyone in the group to see the laptop screens so some of the discussion was lost, in some cases making the laptops more of a distraction than an aid. Thanks and see you next time.
    •  It was a great idea, so thanks to all, including the sponsors. The snacks were a good idea. Gorgeous setting. I didn't know about this work space. I actually would have liked an extra 1/2 hour to do all 4 groups that way, but maybe that';s because I know so little I need a lot more info than some people. (I'm a non-techie writer who's launching a social service website and lack the funds to pay for training!)
    •  Didn't like the organic breakout format. Thought this was a lazy approach to providing value. For this many people and presenters it would have made a lot more sense to have a projector and consecutive presentations kept to a max. of 15 min each. This would have forced the presenters to be more prepared, offer more value quicker and kept the ball rolling quick. I'd also recommend a time keeper to cue presenters 3 min. before the end of their speech so they know to wrap it up.
