I am a vegetarian and aspiring vegan... cheese is the last remaining obstacle.
2008, originally because I read that it was better for the environment to stop eating meat than to drive a smart car, and since I couldn't afford a smart car, I figured I had better give up meat. Then I read "The China Study", "Eternal Treblinka", "Slaughterhouse", "Animal Liberation", "Skinny Bitch" and basically any other book I could get my hands on. Needless to say, the environmental reasons became the LEAST of the reasons not to eat meat.
Anything related to the health and happiness of the earth and all of its inhabitants. One thing I did not expect about becoming a vegetarian is how vastly it would touch every aspect of my life and consciousness about the world.
I was looking for a community of vegetarians and vegans that love to eat and love animals as much as I do. I believe that friendship and community is how we grow and I need to grow up and be the "big girl" VEGAN that I know I can be :)
My husband and I have 4 dog-children and we are both vegetarians... and maintain a vegan diet most of the time. I am just looking for a group of people to hang out with, share ideas and gain some inspiration.
