Winter Snowshoeing/Backpacking to Fletcher Peak & Mummy's Toe

This is a WINTER Backpacking trip. That means, We will do snowshoeing with 40-50 lbs backpack and camp over night on the snow. This is NOT a beginner hikers/backpackers trip.
If you have to ask what to bring on this hike, you won't make this hike.
This trip will be a good pre-acclimatization & gear test for Winter Mountaineering to Mt.Charleston, Mt.Whitney, Mt Rainier etc...
The camp spot is about 9,800 ft. Its about same elevation as Raintree or Mummy Springs.

Trip schedule...
1st Day (Feb.13th Saturday)
Meet at Starbacks at Durango/95 on 10AM. Then Drive up to North Loop Trail head. We may able to start hiking by 11AM.
We follow the North Loop Trail. Actually, the trail is under the snow and we will break our own trail.
We will take a lunch break on the way.
The hike to our camp spot is about 2 mile and 1,600 ft of elevation gain. After we set up the tent, we will take a short hike to the Fletcher Peak. Its only half mile and 400 ft of elevation gain from camp spot.
Cook and eat the Dinner at camp spot and go to bed. I heard there are no fire restrictions in Winter(November-April), so we can do campfire.

2nd Day (Feb.14th Sunday)
Wake up early in the morning then cook and eat the breakfast.
We'll leave the camp spot by 9AM then go to the Mummy's Toe. Its only 1.5 miles and 1,200 ft elevation gain. But, the route is very steep and it will takes about 2.5 - 3 hours. Eat the Lunch at the Peak around noon.
Then pick up our backpack on the way down and go back to the trailhead around 3:00 - 3:30PM.

This hike will be canceled if weather forcast seems very bad.

If you don't answer the question when you make an RSVP, I can't give you a spot.
BTW, I heard there are no fire restrictions in Winter, so we can do camp fire.

Sunny> I pick only who have the right gear and fitness to make this trip. I'm open for anybody and not picking up only my friend.
I have already sent an eamil to everyone on the waiting list and asked their gear and fitness level.
If I'm only taking my friends, I didn't post it on meetup. Actually, I did many personal trip that I selected only from my friends.

It looks like it is expected to snow pretty much all day Saturday at the location where we would be camping. See the attached link.

Sunny, you seem to have some strong negative opinions about a terrific organizer. You must be a real tuff guy to not even show your face on your profile. Or is that your face?

Guys, there is no need to be rude.

I've known Sunny for a very long time and can personally vouch for her fitness level.

If "Sunny" had posted her pic instead of her dog., I would have recognized, supported and told Shin about her. I thought she was still in England or New Zealand.. I hiked with Sunny a few times back about 5 years ago . I think if she says she's ready to take on the hike ..she could handle it... That's my opinion..but then I'm Kenny... who knows.. I might get kicked out again next week.

Noel (the dog) is cuter than me and more recognizable (and he's the best hiker in our family). If you have ever hiked with me, you would recognize the dog, that's why he on my profile. If you haven't hiked with me... get out there and hike with me why doncha!!

We had a great weather this weekend. One of the best condition for the Winter Backpacking. Snow condition also good. We had great fun to the Fletcher Peak & Mummy's Toe.

Thanks for organizing a great trip Shin!

Shin did a great job of planning this event. From our campsite, we had good views of Charleston Peak and several other peaks in the Spring Mountains. My favorite part of the trip was the snowshoe hike on the steep slope above Mummy Springs to Mummy's Toe.
