Zion Narrows (bottom up) hike and Carcamping #2

Details

Would you like to hike Zion Narrows and stay overnight at camp ground?

This is NOT an overnight backpacking trip through Zion Narrows from the top, but we will day hike up from the bottom for few miles then car camp at the Watchman campground. This campground is near the National park entrance and visitor center.
If you are thinking about doing Zion Narrows top down hike in the future or just simply want to visit and hike the Narrows, please join us.

We will meet 6:45AM at Cannery Casino (Parking lot 3rd floor) and leave there by 7AM.
From there we will carpool and drive up to Zion. It will cost $25 for the entrance fee if you don't have National Park pass. (please pay gas money to your driver)
Our campsite parking spaces are limited. Please cordinate the carpool with other hikers to reduce the number.
Any overflow must park at the parking by the visitor center which is about 5 minutes walking distance from our campsite.

Directions to our campground
http://goo.gl/maps/4KKH1

We will get there around 11:00-11:30AM (Utah time, it is 1 hour ahead of Las Vegas Time).

Those who need to rent the canyoneering boots or hiking stick MUST stop by the Zion Adventure Company (http://www.zionadventures.com/) BEFORE enter the Zion National Park. (you don't have much time to rent the gear)
It is located just out side of the park and couple minutes from the entrance.

When you are entering the campground, just tell my name (Shin Goto) and site number (E004). The park ranger will give you the parking permit and direction to our campsite.
(Our campsite check-in time is 12:00noon, thus there is a chance that we can't get in there before noon. In this case, just park your car at visitor center)
Then we will meet at the visitor center shuttle bus station at 12:00noon.
(There are so many hikers and tourist at there. I'm a SHORT & SKINNY ASIAN GUY WEARING YELLOW CAP)
The free shuttle bus take us to the trailhead for Narrows.

For hiking the Narrows, you need water shoes/canyoneering boots, hiking stick/trekking pole, snacks and water for lunch.
You must put all the electrical device(camera, cell phone etc...) in the Waterbag.
(you can buy it at walmart for $10)

We will hike up the Narrows for few miles. And if we have enough time, we can check the Orderville canyon too.
Turn around time is around 3:30PM, No later than 4PM. (comes back down the canyon is easy and it will take only 1.5 hours)

After we come back to our campsite, set up our tent then have a dinner.
We will cook the dinner at our camp ground or you can go out for dinner at Springdale (only 5 minutes drive from the park) if you want.

The plan on the next day is wide open and its up to you. Just we have to leave our campsite by 11AM. (you can park your car at visitor center after that)
There are many choices before coming back to Las Vegas.

  • River Tubing (making a reservation is recommended)
  • Hiking : Angeles Landing, Emerald Pool, Observation point, Hidden canyon etc...
  • Biking : Pa'rus trail

I'll leave the camp early in the morning with few others for Narrows Top Down, thus I won't take care after you on the second day.
So, spend another day and come back to Las Vegas by yourself.
Please hike and drive safe !!
