Camping at Kingman Wash, Lake Mead AZ

The weather has up and turned beautiful, folks! I'm going to celebrate Spring's arrival with a one-night stay at lovely Lake Mead. Kingman Wash campsite is FREE and all I ask is that every car donates one bundle of firewood. There is an outhouse there, but no running water - so bring all the H2O you'll need for drinking and cleaning.

Potluck dinner Saturday night at 6:30pm. I will provide plates, cups, napkins, forks, spoons, garbage bags, recycling bin, and basic first aid kit. ;-)

I haven't been there since the Bypass Bridge was completed, so I'll need to go confirm the driving instructions in case the roads have changed. Basically you cross over Hoover Dam, then take a winding dirt road 4 miles til it dead ends at the beach. I will update with specifics soon.

BRING: Tent, sleeping bag, jacket, flashlight, food, drinks, water, firewood, camp chair, folding table, games ... and anything else you like to camp with. Some people simply sleep in their cars. Others come for the food and campfire stories, then drive home to sleep in their own beds, lol.

Kids welcome, though alcohol and/or adult language is likely. ;-) Pets ok if they're well-behaved and quiet. Night temperatures should be in the 50's. (omg perfect, right?)

On Sunday morning, we'll make breakfast and pack up, then you're all invited to join me for an easy hike through the Historic Railroad Tunnels trail (http://www.nps.gov/lake/planyourvisit/hikerr.htm) on the way back to Las Vegas. Tennis shoes, jacket, camera, sunblock, snack, and bottle of water recommended.

Bring your fishing gear if you want to cast out from the shoreline. You will need an Arizona fishing license (http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/licenses.shtml) ($19-73, +$3) or a Nevada fishing license with the Arizona-Nevada Colorado River Special Use Stamp (http://www.ndow.org/law/regs/fishregs/) ($9-39, +$3.)
