I'm interested in having access to the tools and techniques needed to make whatever I imagine. I like designing protoype inventions, making knives and tools, building furniture for around the house, and fixing bicycles. I've become interested in microcontrollers, open-source software, and CNC because I'd like to be able to do some small run manufacturing, and these technologies would automate many repetitive tasks.
I'd like to see a lot of CNC tools, such as laser cutter, plasma cutter, mill, lathe, waterjet, and router. Creating these tools at the DIY/hobbyist level and price range should be a focus for our Makerspace. Training resources to teach people how to use all of this equipment safely and enjoyably should be another focus for the group.
The idea of a Makerspace really interests me- a local place where people have low cost access to the tools and skills to make pretty much whatever they imagine. I live in Ventura and want this here, so I'm doing all I can to assist in making it so.
