Event Description Leveraging the SmartPhone ecosystem and Moore’s Law, entrepreneurs are launching a new class of small wearable devices. These general purpose compute platform devices are about to disrupt the world of consumer electronics and embedded devices, because they provide modern UIs and open Software development environments. Start-ups, and giant global companies like Sony Ericsson and Motorola target the wrist as the beachhead, to launch these new platforms.
Will entrepreneurs re-invent Watches, Consumer Electronics, Sporting gear, Medical equipment, etc. Will the devices work as clients to Smartphone or the Cloud or both? Will entrepreneurs build Apps and services for Wearables, as they did for Smartphone and Tablets? We will explore these questions, plus the challenges of start-ups creating Wearable Platforms.
