Welcome to The Verizon Volunteer Action Team!

The purpose of this meetup is to get every Verizon Wireless user connected with the American Red Cross and other volunteer organizations. Lets all lend, not our money, but our helping hands to a nonprofit institution that relies solely on volunteer participation!

So every month, this group will meet and discuss ways we can help our fellow Austinites and the surrounding areas. Most of us are EXTREMELY busy with our daily lives, no doubt. However a lot of people just like us, as busy as us, making it day to day, suddenly incur tragic incidents on a daily basis.

They cry out for help.
You can be there for them.
A shoulder to lean on.
An ear to listen.
Or just there.
That's all it takes to help.

The American Red Cross needs help on all fronts of work. Here are only some of the volunteer jobs available. All of which training is provided.

1) (DAT) Disaster Action Team: Trained volunteers are placed at the scene of a disaster to provide immediate, identifiable emergency services to individuals and families
2) (MCAT) Mobile Crisis Action Team
3) Shelter Worker: Provide immediate, identifiable care on a chapter administered relief operation through effectively and resistively managing shelter operations as a team to meet the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster.
4) Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) Driver: During a disaster relief operation, provide on site support in a mobile or fixed ERV for feeding and caring for persons affected by a disaster.
5) Logistics: During a disaster relief operation, assist in the procurement, storing and distributing supplies and material required for the relief operation.

No one has to sign a commitment with the ARC of Central Texas. You can work as much or as little as you wish to. The ARC of Central Texas and I just appreciate your participation!
