Sam's Two Lakes Ride

Sam Macey says:

It’s about 30km and includes some off-road sections, particularly the trail that starts soon after the end of Treanor Ave leading alongside the T-C Highway “up and down and around” into the Thetis Lake parking lot.  It also includes riding on some streets in Langford that I doubt many of us would have thought to ride through (shows how Langford has changed to quite an urban centre).  The route -including the off-road parts - is doable on a road bike as I’ve done it on mine.

Hi everyone, if you'd like an "STR" experience on Dec 18th, please let me know in advance. I don't mind if its only ONE other person, it would be nice to just go "somewhere" and not have to keep up with "the others". I will be at Fantastico by quarter to 12 on 18th, if there are any STR types who want to go for a ride.

Before attending a ride with Victoria Cycling Adventures I will complete the general Cycling Safety Quiz and the Meetup Procedures Quiz.

By attending this ride, I declare that I have read, understood and agree to the contents of Victoria Cycling Adventures Waiver and Policies and Procedures.

For your safety we will break the ride into smaller groups while on busy roads. Please familiarize yourself with our Cycling procedures for large groups.

If this is your first ride with us, please print, sign and bring with you a copy of our waiver.

In case of bad weather, we will reschedule this ride and substitute an Embrace The Rain Ride in its place. Hey - we live in a rain forest, its gonna rain! Let's learn to enjoy it. This will be a short ride in town with a stop to warm up and dry out.

Excellent mid-week ride. Just the right length and some hills to stretch the legs a bit. Sam showed us some road and trails never before traveled, we'll be adding them to our database or routes for future use. Mostly a sunny day but we got caught in a bit of hail at the end, no problem it just bounced off without getting us wet. Thanks to everyone who attended and to Sam for planning this interesting route.

Thank you Sam and Simon for planning a great route through Langford. An opportunity to re-set ones impressions of a place. I particularly liked the "cycle cross" section that paralleled the TCH in Thetis Lake Park.

Three STR's (Norah, Patty and Val) went in royal sunshine to Royal Roads Café for a breakfast/lunch and girl-gabfest. While unlocking our bikes, Patty, observant one, noticed the "cloud , over there..", interesting how the adrenaline kicked in, and we tore back in record time via Old Island Hwy and E&N Rail Trail in a pelting hail storm. But all of us still smiling, have a wonderful "smelly" time. Til next time, stay tuned!

*Sigh*, still dealing with this virus, into Week 3 now. Feeling much better but don't want to take any chances. Have a great time and see you on the weekend, I hope.
