Thank you to those of you who were enthusiastic supporters of the group. I appreciate that and I wish you well in your writing. Feel free to contact me personally and maybe we can form a small group outside of meetup.
Most of the feedback I have been receiving has been of an accusatory nature with people being quick to judge and to assume that I am seeking profit from this group. A simple review of the basic math will show that this accusation is absurd.
I know a lot of people thought meeting in cafes would have been a better idea than private venues. Cafes are noisy, often dimly lit, and I don't think they would work, particularly at the times when we were meeting. Plus, we would likely end up spending as much money at a cafe as we would on a private venue anyhow, but get less productivity from it. There is certainly no point in having a group of people who get together, can hardly hear each other and just end up speaking to the person next to them about how much they enjoy writing. That might be a fun evening out, but it does not do much to further our writing.
I believe that sometimes we have to invest a little in what is important to us.
I thought this group would be a frictionless joy to all of us, but I have been pushing against the grain and getting negative energy from it.
I have decided to abandon this pursuit and put my energies into my own writing and other endeavors.
Thank you for joining the group.
