Our digital world is growing rapidly and we have more devices connected to the internet than ever. On top of that every second 80 new devices are added, which introduces new challenges to communication between these devices. MQTT is a lightweight and scalable protocol that shifts today's request/response paradigm of the web to an event-driven publish and subscribe architecture, which is a perfect fit for Internet of Things and Machine-2-Machine use cases. It allows to connect thousands of devices and is particularly suited for connecting constrained mobile devices.
This presentation gives an introduction to MQTT and explains its features and use cases. Also included is a live demonstration, which shows how to use MQTT between a device and a web browser.
During the talk the following questions will be answered:
• Why do we need a different protocol for the Internet of Things (and HTTP is not a good fit in every case)?
• What is MQTT and how does it help to overcome the challenges we have today
• How to get started with MQTT?
• How can MQTT help to connect your devices?
