Hi everyone!

We're very excited to announce the next event in our Speaker Series, where we'll be bringing in leaders in the field of data visualization from all over the world.

On February 25th we'll have a double feature with Santiago Ortiz from Argentina (moebio.com) speaking as well as San Francisco's own Eric Rodenbeck of Stamen Design (stamen.com).

Schedule 6:00 - 7:00pm Doors open. Socialize, with drinks and pizza provided by Yelp.

7:00 - 7:45pm Introductions and presentations by Eric Rodenbeck and Santiago

7:45 - 8:15pm Moderated Q&A

8:15 - 9:00pm Socializing, meeting with the speakers, networking.

About the speakers:

Santiago Ortiz (moebio.com (http://www.eventbrite.com/moebio.com)) is an information visualization researcher and inventor. He uses his background in mathematics and complexity sciences to push the boundaries of information visualization and data based story telling. He was born in Colombia and currently lives in Argentina. In 2005 he co-founded Bestiario (Barcelona), the first company in Europe devoted to information visualization. Now he works as a freelancer and he specializes in visualizing conversations and knowledge.

Stamen Design was founded by Eric Rodenbeck in 2001. We have since developed a reputation for design and technical leadership in the emerging genre of interactive mapping and live data visualization.

Our diverse team works with corporate clients like MTV, National Geographic and Microsoft, cultural institutions like the Exploratorium and SFMOMA, artists like Vito Acconci, internet giants like Facebook and Google, and data bodies like OpenStreetMap.

Building and contributing to open source software projects is a key part of Stamen’s practice. Our work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

About the event:
Eric presented at our very first data visualization meetup in 2010, and Santiago is traveling all the way from Argentina for this. We're extremely excited to have them both share their thoughts and work with us.

This event will be held at Yelp, and we will be charging a small fee for entry. Pizza and beer will be provided. Due to demand if you'd like to attend you must purchase a ticket from the event page here (and make sure to bring your IDs to the event!):

If you haven't been to the Yelp penthouse before, it's gorgeous. Did we mention that they're also hiring? Check out yelp.com/careers for postings or chat with their reps at the event. Also, Yelp's engineering blog engineeringblog.yelp.com posts often about other upcoming events.

Please feel free to message or get in touch @baydatavis with any questions. Cheers!
