Announcing a new Meetup for Viva La Vegan PORTLAND - Metro! What
: The GETTING OUT OF DODGE
: 17th & Umatilla St (Sellwood)When
: FRIDAY, May 7,[masked]:45 AM to 6 PM (or so)/SATURDAY 10 AM to 5 PM (or so)/SUNDAY We'll see how it goes...
Okay friends, it's time for phase one of the declutter/reduction/pare down before the big life trip and I could use some help.
This sale will have a percentage of sales going as a benefit to the scholarship fund for the Raw & Living Spirit Retreat
at the end of August (taking this opportunity to remind that early registration discount ends May 5th).
What I could use help with is getting things in and out each day, set up, company, etc. If anyone (or several) has a table that can be borrowed for display purposes (or other great display options such as for hanging clothes) that would be excellent too.
On offer is sharing some vegan food for helpers and the chance to sell your own stuff (with a percentage also going to the scholarship fund) or alternatively to donate stuff with 100% going to the fund.
The sale will be held on Friday Noon to 6pm (or so) and Saturday 10 to 5 (or so) with Sunday being played by ear depending on how well it goes the first two days but done by 4pm if done at all. Come in the morning, come in the afternoon, just stop by to say hi and lend moral support. All are welcome. :)
It will held in a carport at 17th & Umatilla in the Sellwood area so should be good rain or shine (hope for shine). There will be chairs for helpers.
Also, anyone who might be interested in buying, definitely come visit. Below is a sampling of just some of the stuff that will be on offer.
There will be lots of collectables such as Obey Giant
clothes and skateboard decks as well as some Shepard Fairey
art; some other skate clothes and decks from Zoo York
and others (much of it unused); basketball cards; Unique Japanese Anime items from Sailor Moon
, Card Captor Sakura
and a few others; guitar; bass guitar; some old Barbie clothes from the 70s; unopened toys from various Disney movies and Bump in the Night
(Bumpy and Squishy!), and possibly some unopened action figures/comic books from the earlier days of Todd McFarlane/Spawn
Lots and lots and lots and lots more of children's books
for all ages from toddler through teen including a lot of Newbery/Caldecott
and other awards winners (great for teachers to restock all the damaged and lost books in their collections) as well as many other books from self help/relationships to sci-fi/fanstasy including quite a few cookbooks, several being vegetarian/vegan
with many of them signed by the authors.
A bunch of more unique DVDs including several from Jackie Chan
, several others in Mandarin or with Chinese subtitles (including film festival award winners), and at least one signed by Kevin Smith
(of Clerks fame); lots of music CDs (some great, most hardly used including a Putamayo
/Alan Lomax collection) from many genres including metal, alternative, grunge, rap, Caribbean, Jewish, some classical and more; and a bunch of very gently used Disney movies.Hanna Andersson
clothes for toddlers through teens, and a few adult sizes, for all seasons (several unused), some Nau clothes, Gap jeans and sweaters.
An unused toaster oven, a gently used older Oster blender (the good kind), some spendy pots & pans, some office supplies, some luggage/bags, unused/unopened jigsaw puzzles, Lego collections, wrist bands, cheap jewelry, possibly some old coins, stamps, photo frames...
And miscellaneous other stuff (such as graphic arts supplies
) that might be added in to the list here as they are thought of (and/or found -- you know how it goes). Basically the first half of a nerdy/geeky lifetime is being squished down to a suitcase and a backpack.
Let me know the level of participation either in the RSVP or email me (I'll add in your items to the list above too if you wish to sell/donate).
