I absolutely adore reading and have always wanted to join a book club because I believe that having the opportunity to discuss something with a variety of individuals can only enhance the experience.
This is a hard one!! Not to cheat, but I'm going to fall back on two beloved books that I dragged with me on every vacation and every move: "To Kill A Mockingbird" & "The Princess Bride".
I just finished two. One was "In Cold Blood", which I had been meaning to read for forever and a day, and the other was called "The Weight of Water".
Hello Everyone! I just moved to the St. Catharines area & am looking to expand my social circle with individuals who share similar interests.
As I mentioned above, the September discussion on the book "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant was the first meeting that I have been to, so Captain Obvious might say that I really don't know enough to characterize this club. I disagree, because first impressions, whilst not always accurate, are usually telling in some regards. The people whom I had the pleasure of meeting were intelligent, funny, compassionate, honest, willing to ask questions and also willing to share their knowledge with the rest of the group. The discussion of this book provoked a conversation about personal experiences, and at end of the day, isn't that one of the most wonderful aspects about sharing a book with others? It can provide a tangible point from which people can compare and contrast what occurred within the pages and how that did or did not connect with their own lives. The women I met this evening were gracious to a newbie, and I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves reading & community.
