Meditation has been practiced by people in various traditions for thousands of years. Meditation is said to be a way of connecting with the Self; a way of attaining Union with the Divine.
Nowdays most people practice meditation for health, relaxation and stress management. More clinical research is necessary. Meditation has cumulative effects: the more you practice, the longer and deeper the effects become.
In general practicioners report:

-better sleep
-more joy in life
-feeling more connected with the World
Specifically, the practicioners report improvements in the following conditions:
-depressions
-hypertension
-chronic pain
-high blood pressure
-insomnia
Meditation is said to benefit not only the practitioner(s), but also the entire community. So, over the course of the year, we will facilitate meditation circles on different locations in and around Detroit, and benefit the communities at those localities.
Detroit has pockets of old karma, that is slowing down the Change. By inviting people to come from various sections of the city to meditate together, we are dissolving the social, ethnic and other 'boundaries', thus making our contribution to a safer, happier, resilient Detroit community.
