My first three years at USPS were focused on Analytics within the four walls of the plant: improving equipment and process performance, streamlining software systems and data reporting, data visualization, etc. In the last year, the fun really began as I became responsible for the improvement and performance of the demand forecasting and SAS\OR based linear program used to plan our air transportation network. I was able to drastically reduce the model run time while adding constraints to meet new contractual requirements. Also, I was able to make the program straightforward enough (and excel based) so that a non-SAS employee could run this linear program.
I'd just like to meet other people in the area doing OR type work, so I can see what else is going I the industry. The applications for OR are so vast, and I always enjoy hearing new ones.
Not yet. This would be my first meeting.
Been in DC about 5 years with USPS in Engineering and Network Analytics offices, at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana before that for Enterprise Systems Engineering. Talk anything Chicago sports, and you'll have my attention.
