This meet-up group is geared for people who are looking to get some exercise by walking and hiking at a more moderate and easier pace than what the usual hiking club in the greater Asheville area offers. We will seek out more level hiking trails with no more than 1,500 foot elevations and range anywhere from 3 - 8 miles in length with a social element of either starting or ending the hikes and walks with an optional shared meal at a restaurant near the hiking/walking destination. Just because the name of our group is "Easy Hikers" does not mean that all of our hikes are easy. It does mean that we will do them at an easy pace and we all come together and leave together. We do not leave people stranded out in the woods.
Hikes will mostly be on our rugged trails here in Western North Carolina. We do live in the mountains and "easy" is a relative term. One person's easy is another person's hard. However if you thouroughly read the hike descriptions you will have a very good idea of what to expect on any particular hike. If you are out of shape or have not done much hiking, easy can be hard for some. You need to start someplace which is why we will incorporate outings to parks and urban areas of cities and towns in the greater Asheville area that will be walks, not hikes. We will have hikes and walks scheduled from 1 to 3 times a week. Thank you for your interest in our group.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no cost to join but we do ask you to participate in at least one hike every three (3) months to maintain your membership. If you do not change your "YES" RSVP to "NO" and do not show up, resulting in four "no shows" on your attendance record your membership will be terminated. Please read our full guidelines under the "pages" tab to determine whether our group is for you. Along with fun, safety is our priority.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
