Welcome to the World Taiji Boxing Association - Erle Montaigue's Fa-jing Ch'uan School of Fighting and Healing in New York City. This is a group where you can keep updated on classes, workshops and special events offered by the school.
The Old Yang Style is the style of T'ai Chi Ch'uan developed originally by its founder, Yang Lu-ch’an, in the 19th century; a style that has its roots in Wudang Chuan and Dim-Mak, which confers on it its Medical/Martial nature; consequentially leading to a better communion with the Universe, as it was originally intended.
Even though this is the original system, nowadays what is widely known as Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan is the style developed by one of Lu-Ch'an's grandsons, Yang Chengfu; a man who did an extraordinary job by simplifying the form and training methods to make them more accessible for everybody, disregarding their current health condition or age. Yet, its medical/martial origin was gradually stripped from it by subsequent generations of practitioners, rendering a form that is definitely better than not doing any type of physical activity, yet not able to deliver all its unmeasurable potential.
Therefore, a difference must be made between this worldwide known style, and the original style that was passed down by Lu-Ch'an's other grandson, Yang Shou-hou, and preserved by the World Taiji Boxing Association, that will enable the serious practitioner to take advantage of all the benefits offered by the work of geniuses. The training takes the practitioner through self-healing, martial and, eventually, medical levels of apprenticeship and practice.
A more detailed primary training is as follows:
-Self Healing and Martial Qi Gong
-Yang Lu-ch'an's Form
-Tui Shou (Push Hands)
-Small San Sau (Self Defense form)
Feel free to come and train in any of our classes, where you will find an environment where friendship, cordiality, respect and lots of hard work is the rule.
