Since Hemlock Bluffs Preserve does not open until 9 a.m., we will meet instead at Harold D. Ritter Park at 8 a.m., 301 West Lochmere Drive, Cary, NC.

Hemlock Bluffs Preserve's main building will be closed this holiday weekend, so there are NO RESTROOM FACILITIES at that park. The restrooms will be open at Ritter Park.

Directions from north Raleigh:

  1. Take the ramp onto I-440 W 5.9 mi

  2. Continue onto U.S. 1 S 4 mi

  3. Take exit 98A to merge onto Tryon Rd 0.4 mi

  4. Continue straight to stay on Tryon Rd 0.2 mi

  5. Slight left to stay on Tryon Rd 0.2 mi

  6. Take the 2nd right toward Crescent Green Dr 0.1 mi

  7. Take the 1st right onto Crescent Green Dr 0.5 mi

  8. Turn right onto W Lochmere Dr 0.2 mi

  9. Turn right 0.1 mi,

This is my FIRST TRIP to Hemlock Bluffs and Swift Creek Bluffs - I am "practicing" by leading this field trip on May 25. I will lead another walk at these two locations for the NC Audubon Conference on Friday May 31 (registration is required for the May 31 walk).
