A few people had been asking me about pole walking the Bolder Boulder together and I thought it was a wonderful idea.

Unfortunately, the people at Bolder Boulder said that we are not allowed to use our poles in the race, due to the concerns of them being a tripping hazard. I can understand their position, although I am disappointed that we can't do this. It could have been so much fun!

So I started to ask, "What else is possible?"

Out of the question, I just came up with a fun walk that is both urban and open space, and also beautiful.

The Walk Your Path First Annual Pole Walking Memorial Day Walk

Let's meet at East Boulder Recreation Center at the east parking lot.

We will walk an approximately 8 mile circle, heading west to begin our walk that will take us along both urban and open space walk/bike paths and side streets and sidewalks. We will walk in neighborhoods and city parks over and down to South Boulder, looping back on the prairie path that connects with the Bobolink Trail to take us back to the East Boulder Recreation Center.

What to bring:

picnic lunch and snacks
water and more water
hat and sunscreen
walking poles!!! (I have a pair for you to use if you don't have your own!)
Please invite your friends and family to join us. We will have a great walk with lots of fun, great conversations, a picnic lunch somewhere along the way, as well as
make new friends and deepen old friendships, and get to know Boulder in a whole new way!

This may not be a contemplative walk in the same way as our sacred walks, but it will be a wonderful group of people using their poles and creating a wonderful experience to correspond with the Bolder Boulder.

Here's to a Bolder Poler - that we walk with our poles, in our own way, on our path, and in our own style!!!
