What we’re about
We are an all-age group, though a lot of us are Boomers. Originally, our focus was on exploring Santa Clara Valley/Valley of the Heart's Delight/Silicon Valley/ -- visiting local history museums, touring historic neighborhoods, walking and hiking all around the county, and gathering weekly for California History Movie Night.
Since we've seen about everything there is in The Valley of the Heart's Delight over the 9 years since the group started, we now tend to go further afield to get to know the towns and counties around us -- San Francisco, Oakland, Alameda, Danville, Walnut Creek, and more.
We have three big favors to ask of members: please don't sign up if you aren't sure you will show up absent an emergency; PLEASE READ EVENT DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY for your own good, so you know what to bring and what to expect, and please make a donation from time to time to organizers to help with Meetup costs.

Part One:
Amplify: Ancient History As Viewed Through Coins
Mountain View Library 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Second Floor
585 Franklin Street, Mountain View
This presentation covers the people and events that shaped history through a unique lens—the fascinating world of coins. Through coins, we can learn about the people who issued them, the events going on at the time, and what leaders wanted their society to see in them. From the very beginning of coinage in ancient Türkiye, right up to the end of the Roman empire, coins provide a hunt for those willing to explore into the depths of history.
