Before the holiday season gets any busier, just wanted to encourage you to check out our Meetup calendar for the month. We are striving to avoid sending announcements for each new event. [Reminders will still go out.]
We?re planning some quiet, reflective evenings each Sunday in Advent for those interested. There are lots of musical and dramatic presentations going on, and some of those are listed as ?notes? rather than official events because we just can?t do them all! There?s something for everybody, north, east or south around the Bay Area! http://www.ndnu.edu/the-arts/theatre/previous-productions/20-xmas-carol.aspx
-- free ? Dec. 5 to 16.
Our hike planned for Dec. 5th at Picchetti Ranch will be moved to Dec. 11th when our member Mark Tracy will be singing with Continental Harmony at the Pichhetti Winery. Our assistant organizer Martha will welcome you at the historic Rengstorff House in Shoreline Park, Mountain View, on December 7th [Ron and I will be out of town.] If you are performing somewhere, let us know and we?ll list your event as a ?note.?
For Hanukkah celebrants, there?s ?The Meshugah Nutcracker? at the Retrodome in San Jose; our organized event will be on Dec. 12th. Goldstar may be offering substantially-discounted tickets!
Our December 14 ?California Movie? will focus on our home-grown famous artist, Thomas Kinkade, in ?The Christmas Cottage.?
Ron and I are trying to accumulate 120 gifts to hand out on Christmas Eve along with supper at the ?Recovery and Renewal? meeting where our Meetup group has served dinner. We?d appreciate any donations of new or gently used items you think might brighten up someone?s day; nicely-decorated cookies or homemade candy put together with hotel-sized toiletries in a nice mug is one idea; decks of cards, pens, tote bags, electronic games, flashlight keychains, etc. etc. Most of the attendees are men. We?ll have a gift-wrapping evening on Dec. 21st ? join us for wrapping or bring any items you have to an event before that. Any leftovers will be donated to the Salvation Army.
We?ll keep hiking as much as possible, too!
Kathleen and Ron
