I've scheduled a LOT of events for the next few weeks somewhat far in advance, knowing that people often get very busy at this time of year and hoping you'll mark some spots on your calendar NOW for fun and exercise with us!?
To hold down on email, I'm just sending this one note announcing many events, and ask that you log into our calendar for details and to RSVP.? Reminder announcements will (hopefully) only be sent to those who do sign up for an event.
So here goes ...
1.? This Friday night, 11/13, Ukelele Dick covers Motown Music at Don Quixote's in Felton.? Sure would be great to have some fellow carpoolers for this quirky, amusing-sounding experience.
2.? Sunday, 11/15, 3:00 p.m., a two-hour walk and exploration at Byxbee Park/Palo Alto Baylands.
3. Afterwards, a showing of "At The End of Slavery: The Battle for Justice in our Time," a 31-minute documentary film with Danny Glover, nearby.
4.? For the unemployed, furloughed or independently wealthy, a Wednesday daytime walk on November 18th at Pulgas Ridge with a docent.
5.? A longer outing to beautiful Mount Madonna in Gilroy on Saturday, November 21.
6.? Work off some turkey dinner a couple of days after Thanksgiving with the hike Kate is organizing on Saturday the 28th.
7. Saturday, December 5th -- "Inflation Celebration" -- get a sneak peak at the massive floats for San Jose's parade, a good brisk walk, and a fun dinner out
8.? Sunday, December 6:? My favorite -- and hope you'll join me.? An admittedly somewhat-expensive outing to San Juan Bautista for "La Pastorela" held in the old mission and dinner at La Casa Rosa (not a Mexican restaurant, even though it sounds like one).? I realize Sunday nights may not be the? best time for such an event, but tickets for the play are $7 to $17 dollars cheaper that night.? And you support a community theater and restaurant.
9.? Tuesday, December 8:? Make up for splurging on Sunday with a FREE event at the Rengstorff House.? Tour the house in its December glory, enjoy free refreshments and sing with costumed carolers!? For exercise, meet at my house earlier and we'll do a brisk walk.
10.? Sunday, December 13.? Another nearly -free event.? Sing Christmas songs (including "The Hallelujah Chorus"), get dinner for just $3, and take a walk in a Palo Alto neighborhood.
11.? Saturday, December 19:? "Celtic Christmas" at Don Quixote's in Felton.? 7:30 p.m.
There will undoubtedly be MORE hikes and walks added as the weeks go by, but wanted to alert you to these and hope you'll be able to come along.? Please check into the calendar and see what works for you!
