Why Write?

To paraphrase a folk song you've never heard, art is "the loftiest endeavor of the human mind." Writing is as much an art as painting or sculpture, and quite possibly the most tangible form of art in existence. Words can paint better pictures than movies and tell a better story than music. The written word is amazing, and nothing has been more revolutionary than the written word. Except maybe the wheel.

What do you write?

Right now, just random Facebook posts, but I aspire to write a great novel. A long novel with great characters and steamy scenes of realistic romance. That's not too much to ask for, is it?

I'm new to D.C., and I work at a call center for a Big Evil Bank. Unfortunately, I've spent many years trying to find the discipline to focus on my writing, and I'm hoping to finally find it!
