Let's Help Out The Community and Deliver Food w/ Food For All DC (r/DDOS)
Details
Hey all!! To coincide with the annual Reddit Dedicated Day of Service, I figure we can lend a helping hand to Food For All DC (http://www.foodforalldc.org/wp/), a non-profit charity that delivers to the elderly, handicapped, and others in situations of need.
We would first come in at 9 AM where we prepare and pack boxes of groceries(The packing usually takes about 45 mins to 1 hr). Afterwards we are given assigned routes and go around the city to deliver the food to the clients. These routes normally contain between 6-8 deliveries and take about 1-2 hours.
For this event, we would need 15-20 volunteers(that as many they can have for one group, but I'm currently talking to the Site Coordinator into seeing if we can bump it up the number).
One thing to note is that volunteers will need to bring their own cars and/or be able to drive; so if you can able to loan your car to the cause, it'll be greatly appreciated. If you can't drive, you can also sign up as a navigator and help drivers on the deliveries.
I'll create a spreadsheet in the coming days so people can write down if they want to be drivers or navigators.
See you all there!
