  • 7:15-9:00: presentations
    • Using MongoDB with MongoLabs and PHP - Theo Rushin Jr (@rushint) - In this presentation I will talk about my experience with using the MongoLabs service to create and communicate with a MongoDB database through PHP scripts. I will walk you through the process of setting up an account, creating a database, and the code we used to connect to the database using a MongoDB driver and the RESTful API. Code examples will be included.

We're still looking for one more presenter.  Want to present?  Let Nathen know.

This meeting will be held at the CustomInk office in Tysons Corner.  The office can be a bit difficult to find, please see check the "CustomInk - Driving Direction" or "Metro Directions" for details.

See you there!

No. The app I am referring to is a simple sample app using MongoLab (MongoDB) + PHP + HTML5 + CSS + Javascript + appMobi (to create mobile app. If I have time I can demonstrate another app using MongoLab + Corona SDK (RESTful API).

Hi Theo, topics of presentation look great. Is the app you refered is for mobile app project using MongoLabs + PHP + Corona SDK? Look forward for presentations.

For those of you coming to tomorrow's meeting I just wanted to give you a hint of what I will be presenting. I will be taking you through my process and experience with using MongoLab and PHP to create a simple browser app. I will not be going into depth about mongoDB or PHP. But I will take you from start to finish. It should be an exciting presentation.

Hello. If you still have room for a presenter I would like to do a presentation on my experiences with MongoDB and MongoLabs (A BasS). I using MongoDB for two different projects - A client project that uses MongoLabs + Node.JS and an internal mobile app project using MongoLabs + PHP + Corona SDK. I can create a 60 minute presentation with code samples on either topic: Using MongoLabs with Node.JS or Using MongoLabs with PHP.

Let me know. Either way I will be in attendance.

Theo, they both sound like good topics for our meeting this week. I've emailed you asking for some additional details.

Although, MongoDB is still pretty new to me, but, I would like to talk a bit on a specific topic if someone is looking to learn or discuss a particular topic.

      Anil,

Thanks for offering to speak at next week's MongoDC meetup. What topics would you like to present on?

Here are some suggestions that might be interesting:

      1. Using MongoDB with (your language of choice ruby, php, go, etc). Share some info about the drivers and other tools in your language's echo system.

      2. Mongo and (your framework). What framework(s) are you using with Mongo? Rails, node.js, wordpress, etc.

      3. What have you built with MongoDB? Show us something interesting you've built with MongoDB and how you went about it. An application, an api, a script?

      4. Learning MongoDB. What tools, sites, resources did you use as you were learning Mongo?

Any particular details about this meetup? Like will there be talks, presentations, or just a meeting where everyone can just kind of chat about their use of mongo?

Okay cool. Well Im the director of engineering @nutritionix. We are currently using mongoDB in production and some other NoSQL tools. I will defiantly attend this one. Perhaps maybe speak or volunteer at another if I can get a feel for what people are looking to learn.

Would be good to get some new contacts in the D.C area. Just got in about 1 month ago from SF.
