Obon Festival 2012

Ekoji Buddhist Temple is celebrating its 31st Obon Festival on Saturday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m. with a full-evening of activities including traditional Japanese folk dancing, a memorial candle ceremony, children’s games and a taiko performance by Nen Daiko. Obon, or Bon, is a time of remembrance for our parents, grandparents and those who have come before us; it is a time to express our gratitude for all they have done for us, and for the interconnectedness of our lives. The first video shows a group dance. I participated last year at the one in Ekoji. Sure I looked terrible but it was a lot of fun with friends.
