The Virtual Human Toolkit, Smartbody and other Technologies

Bernie Roehl has been doing a lot of work lately with the Virtual Human toolkit, Smartbody and related technologies.

Bernie will introduce you to Brad, our virtual greeter for the REAP Felt Lab space, and talk about how he built him and what he can do.  Ladies, I hear Brad is indeed single ;-)

Microsoft is also about to release their Kinect For Windows new developer SDK for general access.  By July 21st, the SDK should be freely available.  We've been doing a lot of work with the latest Kinect sensor, but we were waiting on support for the really advanced features.

This video showcases the capabilities that are in the new Kinect sensor:

NOTE:  Microsoft has selected Waterloo Region to be their only Canadian location for the world wide Kinect for Windows Hackathon!  They're bringing their Tech Specialists, Kinect Sensors, NFC experimental tech, dev workstations, dev Harddrives so that you can boot Windows 8.1 from your Mac, and everyone will get a copy of the Kinect SDK toolset to take home. Plus, there's going to be prizes :-)

Register here for the Aug. 8,9,10 Hackathon weekend - limited seats:
