Please join us if you have a desire to live a simpler, more spiritual life that is directed by the belief that God calls us to live a life of harmony with creation and with each other.
The original church was simply a community of those who had chosen to "follow the Way" - the subversive, anti-imperial, abundant way of Jesus. This group will strive to re-learn, practice and promote the most simple ways of graciously accepting God's "daily bread" (daily fulfillment of needs) through primitive and traditional living skills and to build community around the sharing of these gifts. Meetups will include skillshares, discussions/ prayer and shared meals.
This is a sister group to the CNY Primitive Skills Group - another meetup group that focuses entirely on the practice and sharing of indigenous living skills. The hope is that Waykeepers will evolve into a small community of people that are concerned with not only the "how" of traditional living skills, but with also the "why" - with the ultimate goal being a "great economy" (Wendell Berry, Ched Myers) that practices ecological and social justice.
