Inaugural Web Components Meetup

  • Jul 29, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our first meetup!

Come and introduce yourselves and talk web components. It's been such a hot topic lately, and it will only get better.

There will be food and drinks provided by MaxCDN. Divshot will be providing the beer!

== Presentations (begin at 7:30pm)

Web Components Crash Course (Michael Bleigh)
Learn what Web Components are, why they matter, and how to use 'em in 20-ish minutes (I hope). If you've been wanting to dive in but haven't had the time, this is for you!

Styling Web Components (Jake Johnson)
The Shadow DOM gives you some powerful tools for building UI, but you have to know how to do it right. Learn how here!

    Hi all,

If you missed the meetup or just want to relive the magic we posted screencasts of both presentations on our official YouTube channel:

Thanks for coming, everyone! We had a lot of fun at the inaugural meetup. Thanks again to MaxCDN for the delicious food and lending their space.

My slide deck is available here:

The Polymer website is a great resource:

We're checking the quality of our screen recording, if it worked decently we'll post it to YouTube as a reference as well.

If you're looking for some Twitter accounts to follow related to Web Components, @polymer, @addyosmani, @ebidel, and @robdodson.

Of course you can follow me at @mbleigh, Jake at @jakejohnson, and Divshot at @divshot :)

Hope to see you all next month!

So disappointed to not be able to make it - my bike broke down right down the street. Will the presentation materials be available? Hope to catch the next one.

Sorry, I won't be able to make it tonight. I was help up at work and can't get out there in time. Maybe next time.

Definitely going to try to make it, if not for the beer then for the presentations at 7:30.

Anyone who's going: what level of experience with Polymer do you already have? Would you like a "ground-up" introduction or more advanced topics?

I have no knowledge of the subject, so I'm hoping for an intro level "course" with a follow-up discussion on Polymer applications to worldly issues.
