Apache Web Performance - Leveraging Apache to make your site FLY!

Apache is the most popular web server in the world, yet its default configuration can't handle high traffic. Learn how to setup Apache for high performance sites and leverage many of its available modules to deliver a faster web experience for your users. Discover how Apache can max out a 1 Gbps NIC and how to serve over 140,000 pages per minute with a small Apache cluster.  Get happier users, more conversions, and save money with a properly setup Apache web server.

Devon Hillard has been developing, architecting, and hosting high traffic web applications for 14 years.  Some of the sites he has been involved with include: ATT.com, Cingular.com, PeopleChoiceAwards.com, Payless.com, Scotts.com, JCrew.com, VermontCountryStore.com, 10MinuteMail.com, and many more. He is currently a co-founder of Spark::red an ATG Managed Hosting provider, delivering high performance hosting for the Fortune 1000 who use the Oracle/ATG eCommerce platform.

Unfortunately I was not able to come. Could you please share the slides?

WOW! This was a great one. I have been around Apache admins and devs since the late 1990's at the web hosting companies I worked for. I don't think anyone knew as much as Devon does regarding performance tuning of Apache confugration and modules. The talk was good. The detail was amazing. Devon's desire to share his knowledge was awesome.

It was a real pleasure speaking last night. Hopefully everyone got a little something out of it. I'll be sending my slides to Jonathan today. I'd love to speak again so let me know if there's any topics you'd like to hear about (assuming I know something about it).

This was one of the best meetups I've attended in a long time. Devon knows his stuff, and is very passionate about it. The information is so ingrained in him that it just flows. He stuck to the right level of detail to keep it interesting for everyone. I definitely learnt a few things here.

Looking forward to more talks by Devon, I'd especially like for him to talk about some of the tools he uses to do host, disk and network performance analysis, both for long term studies as well as for spot analysis during a period of high load.

Very effective. I found the low level discussion portions the most interesting.
