Virtually Anything: Oculus Rift and WebGL

Why let Unity devs have all the fun? Let's get together and play with WebGL on the Oculus Rift! I will be showing a few demos I have created and/or adapted. Others are welcome. Please contact me ahead of time if you want to demo... or just show up and steal the show!

Could the chrome guys shed some light on textureLOD support that was mentioned during the talk? Is it this the extension that should be available now?

    EXT_shader_texture_lod

    June 22, 2014

    • Brandon J.

It is indeed EXT_shader_texture_lod and should be available now in Chrome Dev and (I think) Chrome Beta. In order to access it you have to enable draft extensions, since it's not yet ratified by Khronos. (Go to about:flags, look for Enable WebGL Draft Extensions)

the future is bright, but also somewhat scary! I am glad i got to experience a bit of the pre 2000s world, even though it was where it was...

The browser webgl Rift demos were awesome and I look forward to adding HUD support to my product's panoramas. As I mentioned during the meetup announcements, we're building real-world 3D mapping and measuring tools at HERE maps and have WebGL and OpenGL openings. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/sof/4517991967.html

Awesome meetup! Lot's of potential and interest on VR/AR on the web!

Here is the link to the blog post about WebGL on iOS 8. I have added the spec support for both safari and the system webview.
