Web Technology for Doing Business on the Internet

I got a call several weeks ago, it was a very typical conversation.

The lady on the other end was frustrated, bordering on angry. Who was she angry at? The answer was so common: it was "us": web developers, web solution providers. She felt cheated and robbed. Her story as a litany of failed solutions, money wasted, and what she perceived as outright lying and cheating. She no longer trusted anyone in the web development industry.

This always makes me a bit angry as well. Part of anyone's reputation comes from your "industry", it is the very first impression we deal with. That reputation is sullied.

Therefore the motivation for this group is: 1) To demonstrate that there are honest and professional solution providers. Not every solution is good for everyone. Having a hammer does not mean everything is a nail. Be honest about what you can not do, and can not be done in a reasonable budget. 2) To turn the business owner/manager into a well educated consumer of those solutions.

I hope to attract web solution providers that are willing to share and be upfront about the limitations in the solutions they provide.

If you are a web solution provider, come and show us your stuff, the good, the bad and the ugly.

If you are a business, come and learn so that you become a smart and savvy web solution consumer.
