The Wednesday Night Skate is the largest street skating event in the city. Each Wednesday from April to October, skaters gather in Union Square and skate the streets of New York City, taking a new, pre-determined route each week.
Each Wednesday Night Skate event starts at 7:45pm in Union Square park (we leave at 8pm) and ends at 10pm. After the event we all hang out in a skater-friendly bar/restaurant for drinks, dinner and mingling.
It's a great way to do what you love, see the city, and meet new people, all at the same. This event is completely free.
NOTE: Remember, this entire event takes place outdoors (we take up a lane in the street and roll with traffic). YOU ARE SKATING AT YOUR OWN RISK. You should be comfortable skating in the street (in traffic) and have a skill level that enables you to turn, stop and avoid obstacles. You must be willing to obey all traffic rules, such as stopping at red lights. Helmets and wristguards are required; full protective gear is recommended.
