Olympic Bike Ride (flat 12 miles)
Hosted by Travel and Adventure Group
Details
The map in the above link has the marker in the wrong place. It's right beside the canal. It's easy to find if you Google "Lock 7 Bike Cafe".
This will be an easy ride for anyone who has ridden a bit recently. We will go at the pace of the slowest rider. Anyone feeling tired can wait at a cafe for our return :-) Any bike will do but I don't advise BMX's or Carbon Road bikes. Nearly all the route is motor traffic free.
Here's the rundown. I hope you like coffee ;o)
Come and join me for Morning Coffee at Lock 7 bike cafe. I'll be there from 11am. At 11.30 we can cycle along the Regents canal a few miles to Victoria Park cafe for lunch. Bring a packed lunch if you prefer but the food is pretty good.
After lunch the canals will lead us to the Olympic Park viewing tower and another cafe :-)
If all that coffee is making all of us feel energetic, and time allows, we can add a few miles to the route back and visit the 3 Mills cafe and museum. That's 4 cafe's so far :-)
If not we'll return on a similar route passing (or going in) the Victoria Park Cafe and ending back at the Lock 7 Cafe at about 5pm.
I'm an experienced bike mechanic and will safety check all the bikes at the start . During the day I can do running repairs and adjustments for you or I can teach you how to do them. Talking about bike stuff is my favorite hobby so feel free to ask for advice.
Please bring:
Suitable clothing for the weather.
A spare inner tube to fit your bike.
A helmet is advised but not compulsory.
A puncture repair kit if you have one.
Some money for all that coffee and lunch/snacks.
Some good weather ;o)
I will post my mobile to the attendees nearer the time.
Ride easy, Kieron.
