Amazing drive especially in the Spring when booming wild flowers cover the hills.

Outdoor individual tubs.

Mercey Hot Springs is an oasis where people go to shed the stress of city life. Just 3 hours drive from the Bay Area, the property is on 160 acres of lovely rolling pasture-land and hills. It is $35/person/night to camp here with full use of the facilities: the hot springs tubs, pool, bath house and sauna. Cabins are also available. This place is charming vintage looking, everything is clean and tidy.

You will be relaxed in the individual tubs, avoiding the awkwardness of a public pool. The upper tubs are clothing optional, all other areas are clothing (swimsuit) required. Private indoor tubs are available for $7 an hour, great for those who desire more privacy.

This place is quiet and slow, there is a strict policy of being quiet after 8pm. Stargazing is amazing. Nighttime skies are bursting with stars, pour yourself a glass of wine, soak in your own hot tub; it is resoundingly relaxing and peaceful. Owls and doves make the most noise here.

Spring is the best time to travel there; the rolling hills are covered with booming wildflowers and the weather is neither hot nor cold perfect for a soak!

What do you do when you go to a hot springs? Massages!

Massage workshop, beginner level for couples and singles

This workshop is for those wishing to use it with family and friends. Participants will partner up and practice on each other. You will learn a sequence of moves as well as the fundamentals of massage so you can develop your own style.

You will learn and practice the following massages:

  •  Neck and Shoulder
  •  Full Back
  •  Hand and arms
  •  Legs and feet

The massage techniques are based mainly on Thai massage with some Chinese massage techniques and western anatomy and physiology. Massage is done with clothes on, no oil is needed; there will be plenty of stretches to help you loosen up.

When muscles are overused they become stiff, resulting in restricted movement, tightness and pain. Muscular problems are mostly work related; an expensive therapeutic massage once a while will not be good enough. The best way to relieve muscle tension is daily massages, even for just 5 minutes a day. Giving massage with proper techniques is more like exercise than work. It is fun as well; my longest massage exchange was six “happy” hours long.

Massage benefits more than just muscles, it also brings people closer. For couples, a 10 minutes massage exchange daily has a positive effect on your happiness and relationship. For singles, massage skill is a good dating tool. When movie is not a good option, give each other a massage.

This massage workshop will provide instant benefit:

  • Muscles are being warmed, stretched and relaxed
  • Promote the flow of blood and energy
  • Gain a greater degree of flexibility through stretching
  • Deep relaxation when combined with the use of hot tub or sauna
  • A deep and profound feeling of well being

Workshop schedule:

Sat: 2pm – 4pm
Sun: 10am – 11am

This workshop is a good introduction to massage. Although at the end of the trip you will not massage like a professional, you will have learned a useful skill. We are going to explore California together, why not help each other with massages. There will be more workshops in the future for further training. I intend to provide massage workshops whenever possible to make the weekend trips truly relaxing.

I was certified and licensed in SF in 1999; I studied Thai massage in Thailand for 3 months in 2010. With a decade long experience in this healing art, I am ready to teach beginner classes. The workshop is $25 per person and refundable. You have nothing to lose, give it a try.

Total is $64, pay $15 today to secure your spot and pay $49 on the day of the event (03/17/12). The $25 workshop fee is refundable on or before 03/19/12.

This was a great weekend. Sam organized it very well, and our group was the perfect size of very kind, fun-loving, respectful, laid back people. I feel having the massage workshop helped us bond and get closer even more. And all the other activities we had, hiking, soaking in the hot tubs, eating together, relaxing, talking, taking pictures together, enjoying each others good company, made for a great weekend escape for me.

Got my tent! Looking forward to going! Few questions:
    1. May I carpool with someone? I am in San Jose.
    2. Do we need to reserve our own camping spot?
    3. Should I bring a mat or something for the workshop?
    4. Are other people packing food in a cooler, or planning to eat
    at the cafe? Curious.

Hi Sam, as a camper, my friend and I wanted to ask a question if there will be bears in the area and if there is a proper place to store out food?

If you could contact her, or send me her email, or send her mine, whatever is easier would be great. I am not a masseuse so I don't think I'll join the other group. Once I confirm with her that I can share, I'll RSVP and pay if that's ok with you.

Erica, Rebecca is sharing her large tent, I can write to her or you can join my other group and talk to her yourself. She is in Fremont maybe you ladies can carpool. If you have decided to go to this event please sign up.

Lawchung, Thanks for the link! Yes, I have been wanting one but held off for lack of reason to buy one. I would not mind sharing at all with Rebecca if it's ok with her. It will take the pressure off me to buy in a rush and then I can take my time looking for one I like on craigslist or something.

    March 30, 2012

Erica, you can buy this nice one on Amazon for just $24.86; http://www.amazon.com/Mountain-Trails-Current-6-Foot-2-Person/dp/B003R7PTRW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1333130144&sr=8-5. This group will organize many camping trips so buying a tent is strongly recommended. If you don?t mind sharing a tent, you can contact Rebecca here. http://www.meetup.com/Relax-in-the-Healing-Power-of-Massage-and-Nature/events/53236302/

Starofthesea, an announcement goes out to all members when an event is scheduled. Regarding to this event, I also sent out an email to all members about two weeks ago. This event is being postponed due to bad weather, if you are interested you can get on the wait list. :)

I just found out about this Meetup event for next Saturday. I didn't receive an announcement from Meetup when it was scheduled. I'm wondering if the group is set up so that when a new Meetup event is scheduled it sends out an automatic announcement to all group members so that they can sign up if they want to attend.

@everyone, the camping rate has gone up from $30 to $35; for current rates: https://merceyhotsprings.com/Accommodation_Rates.html .
The cost for us will be $64 instead of $59; it is still a good deal, see you on the 17th. :)
