Chris White (Weta Digi) talks Generative Design in Film
Details
Visual effects for movies provides some of the most visible success stories for Generative Design.
Digital filmmaking continues to drive the need for generated & procedural content, and the development of groundbreaking software to author that content.
Generative Design software is used to create repetitive background content, like digital cities and forests. But it also unlocks complex animation of hero effects, like twisters and large-scale destruction. Anywhere manual modeling and/or animation is impractical.
The success of Generative Design for film, and its untapped potential for other industries, were amongst the reasons we started this Meetup.
So it's time we put the film industry in our Meetup's limelight!
And what better man for the job than industry veteran Chris White (Weta Digital)? Ever since I saw his work on New York City in King Kong, Chris has been for me the face of generative design for VFX.
Chris will present his generative work on King Kong and Scorch Trials.
