It's that time of year again- fast cars and pretty women. American Graffiti is a great festival that shows off classic cars, women in poodle skirts, people watching of all sorts and maybe some hamburgers and a chocolate malt. it's classic Americana, right here in Petaluma.
What to expect- heat, walking and crowds. Pack light, bring extra batteries, sunscreen. and snacks or cash. I have got some great shots here, of people and property. Most of these cars are custom rides, and can be identified in photos. I have also met some on going models here. SO... be prepared with model property releases if you plan on using the images in you portfolio. You'd be surprised how generous people can be when you offer to email some of the best shots as compensation. Please be in the habit to ask, and not just taking. Also remember, even though you are in public space, try to avoid children under 13 unless you have direct permission from the parents just as a common courtesy. Pack a walk around lens, and MAYBE a long if you really need it. I LOVE getting low angles, and I find knee pads helpful.
Let's meet around the front of McNears- I will wear my Yuzu Studios T. From there we will walk around either as a group or decide to split up. You are also just welcome to enjoy the event on your own or with your family. Parking will be crazy, so try to arrive early. I will be pausing for a quick snack at Walnut Park Grill around 11:45ish if anyone wants to join me for a malt and some fries before moving on to Quarry Hill Gardens for the second shoot of the day.
I suggest carpooling if possible.
