This is a mass email- please reply privately if needed to keep everyone's email address secure.
I am back from Europe and back at my desk. It was an absolutely perfect trip-except for getting suck at US customs while trying to reenter the US... I got a ton of images and made some new friends. I am finally getting to all my emails and notifications. I will also be filling up the meetup calendar- so prepare for several emails to hit your inbox. Email preferences can be changed if you’d prefer not to get several emails.
Also, I wanted to extend a warm welcome to all of our new members and a BIG THANK YOU to our core members that make it worth it week after week. And once again, a very sincere thank you to Tim Morgan for holding down the fort while I was away.
Winner of Black and White-
We had a tie for best image between Tim Morgan’s cables and Lucy Aron’s boat reflections. Congrats to our winners! They will split the prize of the meetup and facebook profiles and they get a 1000 bragging points each. Several other mentions for votes and jobs well done include Janie, Larry of Gold Door Studios, Edmond Bridant, and Kenneth Bradley. Congratulations to all that participated, these are really great images. Regular assignments will start up again in April.
Meetup Service Disruption-
As most of you know, Meetup had some problems just as I was leaving. These problems were an attack on the servers to disrupt services. While the servers and service was disrupted, no member or organizer information was compromised or stolen. Everyone’s emails, credit cards and other information remains safe. If you have any questions regarding the attack, I will do my best to answer them or link you to the appropriate channels.
The same weekend I left, we had a group shoot at Toulma Farms, and as most of you know, we were on a wait list for the event. It came to my attention that we had several no-shows for the event. There were several factors between the denial of service from meetup, rain and communication difficulties. Anytime we have no-shows it really makes me wonder why I keep the group going if my efforts are not respected. When we have no-shows on a waiting list, it hurts the whole group by not giving someone a chance at an event. Under normal circumstances, I give two no-shows before I remove the offender from the group. Because of the technical difficulties, I am going to overlook these no-shows. I know that things come up, people get sick and emergencies happen. But please try to change your rsvp to give others a chance at events. Also, if you are not able to change your rsvp for whatever reason, I am always available by phone, text or email and I am more than happy to help from this end. My personal info is [address removed] or[masked]- Please use it if you need it.
Meetups, assignments, tips and suggestions-
I am always open to ideas, critique and suggestions. If you have an idea for a meetup, how to make things better or maybe even just a cool location or an idea for an assignment- let me know. I do try to keep it interesting, but I can’t think of everything. I am working on possibly some overnight adventures, some more night photography, some light painting, various workshops and the ever-popular hoppy hours.
We do have some space left for our Bodie trip coming up in the fall. If you want to be on the list, please email me about the $100 deposit. And hopefully, a summer trip to Yosemite as well as a Death Valley trip next spring.
Thanks everyone. Let's make this a great year!
