Our November meeting will be on the 17th due to the holiday the following week.
Our speaker will be Candace Freedenberg who is the founder of a recently launched social enterprise impacting the wage gap, diversity and work-life balance. Untapped Potential (http://www.upotential.org/)captures and readies educated and experienced women for mid-career internships at local businesses. Offering a three prong approach of networking, ed tech solutions and concrete work engagements - Untapped Potential delivers value and talent.
While much is discussed today about the lack of women in the C-suite and the problem of the ‘leaky pipeline’ highlighting the dissipation of women in higher levels of management, Candace’s presentation will focus on a sub-demographic- one that is often side-lined. As the Founder of Untapped Potential Inc. (http://upotential.org/), she will share her initiative to capture and prepare educated and experienced women who have ‘opted-out' of the standard workforce to care for their families. The presentation will cover the statistics and workplace trends affecting this demographic. While the barriers to entry of this demographic may be well known, Untapped Potential offers a three prong approach that works to overcome barriers and return the incredible value of these resources to local business. The audience will be able to participate in exercises that help our Candidates re-imagine their "professional-selves" and to ‘think big’ in crafting their second stage career. She’ll share how women currently engaged in the work force can ‘Lift Each Other UP’ and how business can benefit from this high-quality talent not available on job boards."
