Back to Hack

It's time for the next West London Hack Night. Any language, any level, any idea. All you need is your trusty editor and a mind to code.

We'll be meeting at the Crown & Anchor (who have just repainted, especially for us*) for another fine night of polyglot hacking, drinks & socialising. The schedule is:

6pm onwards - Arrive, chat, order chips.
7pm - Kickoff. Vote for hacks, form teams.
7:15pm - Hack!
8:45pm - Show & tell.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Kris

* Okay, probably not *just* for us.

Another test case: "+++ >> ,[>,] <[<] <- [ >> [.>] <[.<] <-]" and "a1b2c3" as user input gives "a1b2c33c2b1aa1b2c33c2b1a" as output (i.e. input, then reversed, then repeated as many times (minus 1) as there are "+" at the front.

I took an hour out after work just now to rework the C# version so it actually works... with the added goal of trying to use as little code as possible. Here's the result!

Does "+[+[--]++]," work..? (Hm, now I have to work out what it should do...)

I spent some time during work (hope my boss don't read here) and wrote a PHP version - https://github.com/denchev/brainfuck-php. I did my best to find more tests :)

Great to see you all last night. I think we've done society a favour, putting all these new BrainF Virtual Machines into the world. ;-)

I really enjoyed this one, was good to try out some ruby. Even if I did spend most of the bus journey home trying to work out how you would do basic arithmatic in brainf**k...

Is Kris doing a shorter 90 mins each time, to put the pressure on?

    • Peter J.

Heh, certainly felt like time evaporated! Cheers to Kris for organising, too.
